2026 Letter from the VP of Sponsorship

Sponsorship Works

Mabuhay, LCW Sponsors and College Donors,

It is my honor to send greetings on behalf of your sponsored children and youth. Thank you for supporting your sponsored child(ren) and youth, providing them with a path out of poverty and a better life they once only dreamed of. Most of all, thank you for giving them the chance to hear God’s loving message.

Reflecting on 39 years of LCW’s service to the Philippines, I am amazed by God’s goodness in my life and in the lives of many children who received help and hope daily thanks to your generosity and willingness to reach across the world. I am eternally thankful to the LCW Founders for starting this mission to Share Love, Give Help, and Bring Hope in Jesus’ Name. Their legacy remains in our hearts. During a visit with Dr. Bettie Elwood, I asked how she invited others to join this wonderful ministry. Her simple reply was, “Tell them about the Children.” Such a beautiful answer!

Starting with just 8 little boys found sleeping on the streets of Dumaguete City by Dr. Bettie Elwood, our program has grown to include 970 sponsored children, supported by 762 sponsors from 40 states and 11 countries. Since the college program began in 2001, 451 students have graduated. In May and June, we celebrated with 34 college graduates and 56 high school graduates. Praise the Lord! Currently, we have 164 college students. Thank you for investing in these students’ lives. Thanks to your support, dreams are materializing, lives are being changed, and generational shifts are occurring.

The LCP office values having former sponsored children among its staff. About 45% of our employees are alumni beneficiaries, or have children who have benefitted and chose to work here because they believe in LCW/LCP’s mission. Many consider their roles in the ministry a meaningful blessing, working with passion, dedication, and gratitude. For example, Liza Catalan, our Chief Financial Officer, has been part of LCP for 27 years. She was sponsored as a child at age thirteen and later earned her Bachelor of Accounting degree. Former sponsored children often aim to join LCP because they believe in the ministry’s mission and have experienced its transformative impact firsthand. They also take pride in celebrating each sponsored child’s achievements.

Lastly, assist us in serving all children effectively. Your donations to the ministry’s needs will enable LCW to offer the HELPS program to every family. Additionally, help us achieve our goal of sponsoring 1000 children. Please support us in finding venues to speak and share, to ‘Tell them about the Children.” Daghang Salamat—Thank you very much for being a blessing! I thank God for your kindness and generosity toward this ministry and for changing the world one child at a time.

With Gratitude, Marie Lou Patrimonio Abbott Vice President of Sponsorship
